In the Book of Proverbs, King Solomon teaches, “As in water, the face reflects the face, so one’s life reflects the heart.” (Proverbs 27:19) In addition to being a place to stand face-to-face with the Divine, our sanctuary is a place to share learning with one another heart-to-heart. Rabbi Roland holds this space during his Shabbat talks, sharing from his own regular learning and engagement with the world.
Our members also provide their insights into the parsha, the weekly Torah reading. Our tradition teaches that there are shivim panim l’Torah, seventy faces of the Torah. We take that seriously, and provide guidelines and learning tools to support any member who wants to share their thoughts with us. Drawing on their rich life experiences and their work in academia, the arts, medicine, law, business, or a trade, our members’ words of Torah consistently demonstrate that Torah is a book for all time and all people.
